Student Services Overview
STUDENT SERVICES
One of the largest departments in WCHS is the Student Services department. We are here to make your time at WCHS as productive as possible. In order to do this, we have individual counsellors for grade 10, grade 11 and grade 12, and for career counseling. We also have an RCMP liaison officer to help with legal system/justice system issues. Some of the things our grade counsellors can help you with are:
»» Course selection
»» Post-secondary entrance requirements
»» Career options
»» Study skills
»» Personal issues
»» Referrals to community agencies
»» Tutoring information
Just come down to the Student services area (near the main office) and make an appointment, or if you are in a hurry, just drop ion. Any parents reading this can also take advantage of this offer. (We would however, recommend making an
appointment).
WCHS also has the unique ability to provide career counseling services through our Career Pathways office. Our career counsellor is available to provide services in the following areas:
»» Career Guidance and Self-Assessment
»» Post Secondary Counseling and Information
»» Finance, Scholarship and Bursary Information
»» Resume, Interview, Portfolio and Job Readiness Advice
»» Information on Apprenticeship Opportunities (RAP, Green Certificate)
»» Help with Finding a Career Focus
»» In addition, Career Pathways organizes post-secondary information events and offers topical workshops and info evenings throughout the school year for both parents and students alike.
